West Midtown Traffic Safety
In order to form a coalition of neighbors to improve safety in
the area of Midtown bounded by Alma, Middlefield, Oregon Expressway,
and Loma Verde, some documents trying to define the problems and
propose solutions have been circulated through the neighborhood.

The graphics have been revised to reflect the ideas brought out in
collaboration with representatives of the El Carmelo School PTA, the
Midtown Residents Association, and other neighbors.

- Illustrates some on-going traffic safety problems in the neighborhood and
proposes a solution.

- This graphic emphasizes the volume and pattern of traffic funneling through the
intersection of Waverley and El Dorado, especially during the morning school
commute.

- This graphic shows a route used by neighborhood and outside drivers alike to
cut through on neiborhood streets to bypass the Midtown business district.

- This graphic shows the traffic problems caused by the uneven placement of stop
signs along El Dorado.

- 2 Proposals for Stop Signs along El Dorado - Kay Leibrand
- This graphic shows alternate stop sign configurations which neighbors have favored.
There are differences and trade-offs to be discussed but there is
unanimous support for a 4-way stop at Waverley and El Dorado.

- Waverley/El Dorado Traffic Count - Roger Leibrand
- An informal but thorough count of vehicles passing through the intersection
of Waverley and El Dorado on a typical school day in December. The overall
traffic volume is not unusual but the peak morning school commute is hectic.
